Bert Hamelinck

Bert Hamelinck is the Co-founder and Managing Director of Caviar Group, an award-winning entertainment company based in LA, London, Brussels, Paris and Amsterdam. He is also the Head of Caviar’s Film & Television department.

Bert talked about the strategy of Caviar and the many challenges it has faced over the years.

Bio

After many years producing in Belgium, Bert relocated to Los Angeles to focus his efforts on developing stateside original content.

Bert’s US projects include the multi-award winning film THE DIARY OF A TEENAGE GIRL (starring Bel Powley, Kristen Wiig and Alexander Skarsgård) which premiered at Sundance in 2015, BETWEEN US (2016 Tribeca Film Festival Selection), and Jennifer Morrison’s SUN DOGS (2017 LA Film Festival).

His European projects have included the Belgian feature BLACK (Audience Award Winner for “Best Film” - 2015 Ghent, Discovery Award Winner - 2015 TIFF). He also served as a co-producer on THE BRAND NEW TESTAMENT, directed by Jaco Van Dormael (Biografilm Europa Audience Award Winner - 2015 Biografilm Festival), which was selected as the Belgian nominee for the 2016 Golden Globes.

Prior to this, Bert co-produced Lars Von Trier’s NYMPHOMANIAC VOl. I & II. which Caviar co-financed and co-produced alongside Zentropa. Last year, he produced Chloé Zhao’s festival darling THE RIDER (nominated for 5 Independent Spirit Awards), Liza Mandelup’s JAWLINE (2019 Sundance Film Festival Award Winner of the “US Documentary Special Jury Award for Emerging Filmmaker”), and SOUND OF METAL, written and directed by Darius Marder (starring Riz Ahmed, Olivia Cooke, and Mathieu Amalric).
